This isn't science fiction — it's happening now. Wildfires cause billions in damage annually, and traditional detection methods (human observation, satellite imagery) often identify fires too late. By the time smoke is visible from space, the fire is already catastrophic.
Jill's work represents a paradigm shift: detection before visibility. Hyperspectral sensors can identify thermal anomalies and vegetation stress before flames appear. Edge AI means the drone makes decisions instantly, without waiting for cloud processing.

The drone moves across the scene, scanning with a visible beam. Fire spots are hidden in the terrain — invisible in standard view, but clearly detected in thermal and AI modes. It's a simplified but accurate representation of how these systems work together.
Pure HTML5 Canvas with vanilla JavaScript. The LiDAR point cloud is procedurally generated with different point types (ground, trees, structures) rendered at varying heights. The thermal visualization uses radial gradients to show heat dissipation patterns.
The "Edge AI" display shows simulated metrics — threat confidence, processing latency — to illustrate the real-time nature of on-board computing. Real edge AI systems can process frames in single-digit milliseconds.
